Iveta Niklova on Valentines

Doing a shoot is probably not the most romantic way to spend Valentines, but it’s certainly a fun one :) Today’s shoot was with Iveta Niklova, a Czech model that is based in the UK. Yet again it was simple art nude, using natural light, shot in my home and yet again it was lots of fun

Apart from the enjoyment aspect, it’s also quite rewarding working with people that are passionate about what they do and Iveta definitely falls into this category. This is my second time working with her, but this time we used natural light as opposed to a softbox, jammed up against her. This meant Iveta was far more free in being able to move, pose and express herself, which is what a model like her thrives off. I reckon in terms of images for the panel I’m shooting, there are about 4 or 5 from today which I could use – which is a pretty good hit rate for one or two sets. But If I’m to be honest with myself, I don’t think I’ve come close to producing her best image, especially in comparison to a lot of the other work she has in her portfolio, from photographers like John Tisbury et al.

Anyway.. as per what is fast becoming the usual routine, once the shoot was over we ordered some food, cracked open some champagne (ok this isn’t quite so routine.. but it is Valentines day after all) and had a peek through the images from the day. At this rate, my reputation will be more about getting models fat and drunk, more so than for taking photos :) Not necessarily a bad thing?

  1. hehe, love the outtake!

  2. ;) Amazing the faces models pull when you’re just testing the lights… I’d almost consider testing the lights for a whole set ;)
